WHAT IS THE SAT USED FOR?
The SAT is used primarily for:

Scholarship applications to undergraduate programs
Admissions to colleges and universities in the US, Canada and in other countries.

SCORING
Scores are reported in a detailed format to reflect a number of skills and competences but generally, the math and reading & writing sections are scored on a scale of 400 – 800 given a maximum total of 1,600 while the essay is graded on a scale of 0-12.

EXAM DURATION
Evidence-Based Reading – 65 minutes (52 questions)

Writing & Language Test – 35 minutes (44 questions)

Math – No Calculator – 25 minutes (20 questions)

Math – Calculator – 55 minutes ( 38 questions)

SCORE REPORTING
College Board releases scores after about two weeks from the date of the exams.
